TWO GREAT NEW YEAR’S EVE EVENTS FOR MASITHANDANE Traditionally Sedgefield’s Masithandane has always presented a great musical night out on the New Year’s Eve as a fundraiser, and this year the NPO is doubling up on their entertainment efforts with two events at two venues involving two top class local acts. CLOUD 9 @ RED ROOF Back by popular demand! After the fabulous New Year’s Eve Dance Party they hosted last year at Scarab Village’s ‘Red Roof’, the talented trio of Cloud 9 Band were more than happy to oblige when asked to repeat this very successful and fun event at the same venue for New year’s Eve 2023! “Last year, tickets sold out early,” band front-man John Archer advises, “And with limited numbers this year, revellers are urged to book early to avoid disappointment.” There are 120 seats inside on tables of six, and 60 seats outside on tables of four, all of which will be sold on a first come first served basis. It will be run on a ‘picnic’ basis, with attendees bringing their own food and drink. Tickets are available now from Deo Gratia, Pick n pay Centre, Sedgefield, at R120 pp (children under 12 R60) and 50% of the net proceeds will be shared between the hosts Mathisandane and Slow Town Mobile Meals. Cloud 9 is believed to be the longest established pro band in Sedgefield and was the first to establish New Year’s Eve Parties at the Red Roof back in 2010 - they have played there most years sice. Over the years the group has become one of the most popular bands along the Garden Route and down the Cape, having played many hundreds of times at clubs, restaurants, hotels, festivals, weddings, corporate and charity events, wineries, outdoor shows and the like. Cloud 9 are a completely live band of ex full time professional musicians with international experience and are renowned for their special interpretation of classic rock and pop from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond. This year’s New Year’s Eve gig will start at 7:30pm for 8:00pm, and the band will play until seeing 2024 in. “We are very much a party band,” says John, “So you can bring along your dancing shoes. You can shake a leg on the dance floor or just have party fun around your table with family and friends.” ALAN & SHELLEY @ MOSAIC This dynamically talented duo will ensure you enjoy a fun-filled New Year’s Eve of music under the stars! With a mix of contemporary covers from the 60s to the 2000s, Alan and Shelley’s repertoire consists of Country Charm, Rock n Roll Rebellion, a bit of Blues, Reggae, as well as Sing-a-long singles and Dance Floor favourites. Originally together in a five piece band, the couple left their home in Zimbabwe to start a new life in Cape Town in 2000. They were married in 2006 and have been performing as a full-time duo since. Moving up to Sedgefield a couple of years ago they quickly found their feet and were soon a popular part of the garden Route’s musical circuit. Expect to listen to and dance the night away with beautiful songs and upbeat music from a couple who love to bring entertainment wherever they go. Tickets can be bought online at www.quicket.co.za - R130 pp for adults and R80 for children U12. The most wonderful New Year's Eve range of food fayre will be available at reasonable prices on the night from the Gourmet Burger, House of Natal Curries, Slow Schwarma, Yegusha Spit Braai Company, Kapé, and Waffle Gelato Stalls. A fully licensed bar will be open, serving (with a smile!) a good variety of beer, wine and cold drinks as well as coffee. This event, starting at 6:30 for 7pm, is a fundraiser for Masithandane's Children Projects.
